Lucy Rose is a singer songwriter, who came to fame singing with Bombay Bicycle Club on their albums ‘Flaws’ and ‘A Different Kind of Fix’. She now has an album of her own arriving in September after extensive touring in the last year.
The song ‘Lines’ showcases all of Lucy Rose’s talent with beautiful, soft vocal harmonies shining through her well crafted guitar parts. The song has found its way onto the Radio 1 playlist, although Lucy herself is already shying away from any limelight cast on her.
Her debut album ‘Like I Used to’ is released September 24th
An American band signed to the iconic indie label Rough Trade, Howler are every bit the a gritty rock and roll band. With most of the industry still buzzing around the Vaccines, this band have almost falling on deaf ears despite full backing from NME. But his works to Howlers advantage as they’re music is yet to be spoilt by Nike blazer wearing 14 year olds with they’re baseball caps.
This song is the stand out from they’re debut album ‘America Give Up’. Short snappy guitars with plenty of attitude, you can tell the band have real talent. Music isn’t about industry and radio hype, enjoy this band while they’re still unspoilt!
Anyone who has seen this years Tour de France TV advert on ITV4 will have heard this track playing over a cycling montage. The track comes from female artist Daughter and is taken from her Wild Youth EP
Signed to the Communion label that boasts Ben Howard and Michael Kiwanuka as its recent success stories, Daughter creates simple guitar lead songs with emotional depth and surging, climactic momentum.
I’m in danger of this blog becoming solely for cycling, and as good as that may be, it wasn’t my initial intention!
So here’s a song.
You may or may not have heard this song buzzing around in the last couple of months. It’s the lead track from The Shutes latest EP (also titled ‘Echo of Love’). There’s plenty of tracks on youtube if you want to delve deeper, but for a band still yet to release their debut album, this song hints that the Isle of Wight group are really finding their way.
